Customer Testimonial

“Our search for a more rural location to live was answered when we found a wonderful site on the outskirts of the small Buckinghamshire village of Speen in the heart of the Chiltern Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

It was important for us that our new development blended in so our architect followed the guidance laid out in the Chiltern Design Guide, both visually and in selecting appropriate palette of materials, traditional brick and flint to provide a classic Chiltern building fitting well into the village setting.

This style was mirrored in the lodge building and complimented by oak framed and clad garages and stables.

For us one of the main challenges was selecting a suitable builder, particularly one with the necessary skills and experience in delivering the high quality finish in the traditional bricklaying and flintwork the design demanded in addition to achieving the high level of internal fit out and finishing we were looking for.

As important was to entrust out project to a builder we could trust.

“We were delighted that PJAW met all these criteria, with their excellent team of craftsmen and specialist sub-contractors to deliver all these key skills. Whilst the project was executed in a collaborative basis, changes and adjustments were dealt with as work progressed, adherence to the budget was one of the key drivers throughout.
Whilst the house is classical in external appearance, we were keen to include modern technology in our new house design where appropriate.”

“One of the main aspects was through the use of energy saving, Ground Source heating for underfloor heating and pool heating in the main house, garage and lodge buildings. Internally the high levels of finish are complimented with automation and sound systems together with controlled lighting throughout.”

“PJAW put together an extremely professional and skilled team to deliver all key aspects of the project, with a stunning traditional brick and flint development, and notably was a finalist in the LABC awards for Best Individual New House in 2019. and more importantly a home we are delighted with.”
